The Unstoppable Journey: From Floral Design to the Antojo Industry Trade Expo and Jus' Tacos

Updated: Jan 6

As I type away at the bustling LAX Airport, excitement courses through me. I just returned from the vibrant Antojo Industry Trade Expo at the Long Beach Convention Center in California. Despite nursing a fractured patella, with crutches by my side, the inspiration I gained from this event is too precious to keep to myself. Trade expos like Antojo are vital for entrepreneurs—filled with love, knowledge, and connections that can change your trajectory.

The journey here has not been easy. The five-hour flight from Newark to LAX tested my patience while I was confined in a brace. But I knew I had to be there. The heart of opportunity beats strongest where passionate minds gather.

My Floral Design Journey

When I launched my first business, Garden of Edith Floral Design, I had little to go on except determination and a hunger to learn. I had no experience or clear knowledge of building and maintaining a successful business. To fill this gap, I enrolled in Floral School and attended various workshops.

My travels to countries exposed me to unique floral techniques and design principles. While there, I made it a priority to attend floral expos, where I met talented designers who became mentors. They opened up about their journeys, sharing insights on overcoming obstacles and celebrating victories.

I learned that forming solid relationships with suppliers, logistics companies, and other vendors was essential for building a robust foundation.

Discovering the Antojo Trade Expo

Fast forward to today, and I find myself on another exciting path, this time representing Jus' Tacos. The experience at the Antojo Industry Trade Expo was nothing less than transformative. The energy in the room was incredible as I connected with restaurant owners, food vendors, and product distributors, all of whom, like me, took a leap of faith to shape their futures.

During the expo, I heard inspiring stories from restaurateurs. One owner shared how he expanded from a single food truck to three brick-and-mortar restaurants, achieving a 200% increase in customer traffic. Their tales of risk-taking and determination reminded me of my early days in floral design—filled with doubts, fears, yet ultimately, joy in following my vision.

The Spirit of Entrepreneurship

What resonated most were stories of triumph and adaptability. Many shared how they navigated the challenges of a fast-paced industry. Some restaurateurs opted to grow slowly, while others jumped into franchise opportunities. But what tied these individuals together was their courage to follow their beliefs and seize market needs.

The community spirit was palpable. Each conversation reinforced the notion that entrepreneurship is a collective experience—a web of support and ambition that helps us all rise.

Valuable Takeaways

Here are some key lessons I gathered from the Antojo Industry Trade Expo that can benefit anyone in the business world:

  1. Networking is Essential: Connections matter. The relationships you build can lead to collaborations and mentorship opportunities that propel your business forward.

  2. Stay Informed: Trade expos offer a platform to stay current with industry trends and innovations. This knowledge equips you to adapt and make informed decisions.

  3. Embrace Risks: As echoed by all the speakers at the expo, taking risks is part of entrepreneurship. Stepping out of your comfort zone is crucial for growth. A statistic shows that 65% of entrepreneurs credit calculated risks as a key factor in their success.

  4. Be Open to Learning: There is always more to learn. Each encounter provides unique insights to navigate your challenges.

  5. Capture Inspiration: Events like these are a goldmine of creativity. Take notes, jot down ideas, and let the collective energy motivate your next steps.

Reflecting at LAX on these invaluable lessons, I feel grateful for this journey. From floral design to the dynamic food industry, the common thread is passion. Whether crafting breathtaking arrangements or dishing out delicious tacos, love and dedication shine like a beacon.

Embracing Opportunities Ahead

Trade expos like the Antojo Industry Trade Expo are more than networking opportunities; they celebrate innovation, resilience, and the entrepreneurial spirit. Despite my physical limitations during this trip, the desire to connect and learn pushed me to engage fully and absorb all I could.

I encourage everyone—whether in floral design, food services, or any field—to embrace such opportunities. You never know what inspiration or connections await you around the corner. Here's to the journeys we undertake, the risks we take, and the unstoppable passion that drives us forward!

Remember, no matter where you are in your journey, your next big inspiration might be just a trade expo away!
